Reducing territorial gaps in education and fighting school dropout: the Student Wellbeing project

Abstract

The article presents the phenomenon of school dropout that includes a group of young people, mainly minors, who drop out of school education or professional training without completing upper secondary studies. The actions to counteract the phenomenon included in D.M. n. 170/2022 and D.M. n. 19/2024 are presented, as a set of highly personalized educational support paths.  Particular attention is paid to the Students well-being, promoted by an Agrigento upper secondary school. Tre project is based on a personalized approach and educational support to Early School Leavers, involving a network of school, stakeholders, associations, and communities in the territory. The project applies innovative models of teaching and learning with the aim of fostering personal and work fulfilment, as well as the development of skills and the exercise of citizenship rights.
