Intergenerational Learning for developing LifeComp: a case study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the structure, methodology and results of the project "Building a Community Legacy Together" carried out in 2023 by Ca' Foscari University, with the support of Cornell University of New York.
The project, valid for PCTO (paths for transversal skills and guidance) purposes, involved twelve high school students from Venice in their 3rd and 4th years and fourteen senior citizens from a residential home. The aim of the project was to promote LifeComp development through an intergenerational learning (IGL) experience.
Participants received training in orientation, Lifecomp, interpersonal skills and interview management and also had an ice-breaking meeting. Subsequently, the teenagers interviewed the older adults asking them for advice on how to face life's challenges.
This context of IGL and personal orientation facilitated inclusion, transformation, LifeComp-development and empowerment processes, changing stereotypes and creating positive interdependence between generations.
