A community of practices: reflective practice experiences in the ongoing training of the P.I.P.P.I. Programme for the Prevention of Institutionalization

Abstract

P.I.P.P.I. (Programme for the Prevention of Institutionalization), which started in 2011 and recognized as an Essential Level of Social Provisions (LEPS) in 2021, supports innovative strategies to respond to problems connected with child neglect, with the participation now of 465 Territorial Areas and thousands of social, educational and health workers. In each Area, there are two practitioners with the role of coach, a key figure who support the P.I.P.P.I. innovations in the territories. The article focuses on the continuous training of these figures, carried out with periodic meetings (tutoring) in person through experiences of reflective practice and discussion between peers and with researchers. The analysis of the reflective moments of the first tutoring of the eleventh implementation highlights how the reflective process is central for transforming the cognitive perspectives and therefore to change the action.
