Abstract

The article aims to illustrate the project Un libro insieme. La lettura condivisa in Toscana. This is a survey which has as its objective the exploration and knowledge of the reading groups promoted in Tuscany, whatever their meeting place: libraries, bookstores, associations. The research, which also includes a geo-referenced map, investigates the fundamental characteristics and operating methods through a semi-structured questionnaire, also pushing to know the motivations of the participants thanks to the use of narrative interviews. The result is a context marked by multiple actors with heterogeneous characteristics which highlights how the book clubs could not only be an important opportunity to promote reading but also for lifelong learning that reflects a series of adult education principles and responds to needs of human and cultural relationship, participation and communication.
