Evaluate the training of secondary school teachers. The opinions of specialized teachers at the SSIS of the University of Bologna
Main Article Content
Abstract
The evaluation of skills in the professional field is a very important issue in many work contexts, especially where professionals with a high social impact are involved.
Teaching is one of the most interesting and, at the same time, most problematic areas in this regard. It is a profession that has been living for decades - together with the entire education system - a profound crisis from the social and cultural point of view, especially within our country; however, it continues to represent the crucial element for the promotion and raising of the quality of the school and, for this very reason, the teaching profession needs special care in the construction and continuous updating of its skills.
The planning and implementation of serious initial and in-service training courses for teachers are essential objectives in a democratic country whose school system wants to meet the challenge of fairness and quality (OECD, 2006).
In this article, now in progress in the realization of the new initial university training of teachers outlined by DM 249/2010 (with the degree courses in Primary Education Sciences and the activation of Active Training Traineeships for secondary teachers), the results of a research on specialized at the SSIS of the University of Bologna have been taken up, which reflect on the professional skills acquired and their idea of good teaching professionalism, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of the training received and suggesting hypotheses for improvement.
