Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the theme of the pleasure of reading, investigating the educational role of the school and practices it has adopted in order to create a positive relationship between students and books. The study is based on the hypothesis that propose a renewed approach to the text can promote a positive attitude towards reading, which can become a pleasant experience for the students who, through it, have the opportunity to dive into new worlds.

The study involves two groups of fourth grade pupils of primary school and is organized into three phases: the pre-intervention phase, the intervention phase and the post-intervention phase. The pre and post intervention phases see the administration of an adaptation of the questionnaire on the pleasure of reading by Tellegen e Frankhuisen (2001). The intervention phase involves the development the the project “A trip into books”, a reading – wrtiting educational project across narrative books; the chosen novel is La torta in cielo” by Gianni Rodari.

The The analysis of the data confirms the effectiveness of a teaching focused on a renewed approach to the text, able to create a positive relationship between students and books, where it is valued the pure pleasure of reading.
